{"id":217,"date":"2013-08-12T13:40:16","date_gmt":"2013-08-12T17:40:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jonrocket.com\/blog\/?p=217"},"modified":"2013-08-12T13:41:16","modified_gmt":"2013-08-12T17:41:16","slug":"our-deepest-condolences-to-the-friends-and-family-of-carl-mcclawhorn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jonrocket.com\/blog\/?p=217","title":{"rendered":"Our Deepest Condolences to the Friends and Family of Carl McLawhorn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s with great sadness that we learned today of the passing of Carl McLawhorn.<\/p>\n<p>Carl founded Semroc Astronautics Corporation in his college dorm at North Carolina State University in November of\u00a01967. Semroc produced a line of model rocket kits and motors.\u00a0Quickly growing\u00a0to a company with twenty-five full-time employees working at two facilities, Semroc faced some fiscal challenges and, in early 1971,\u00a0the company\u00a0became insolvent and closed its doors.<\/p>\n<p>A little over three decades later, Semroc returned. Reincorporated on April 2, 2002, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jonrocket.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/semroc.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-218\" alt=\"Semroc\" src=\"http:\/\/www.jonrocket.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/semroc.jpg\" width=\"246\" height=\"223\" \/><\/a>Semroc currently produces a large line of quality model rocket kits including many reproductions of the classic kits of the 1960s and 1970s.<\/p>\n<p>We never met Carl in person, but, through all of our dealings with Semroc, we always found him, and his wife, Sheryl, to be friendly, courteous, and professional.\u00a0 Carl contributed much to the model rocketry hobby and will be sorely missed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212; Roger and Bracha<br \/>\njonrocket.com<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s with great sadness that we learned today of the passing of Carl McLawhorn.
