Aerobee 100 Junior Model Rocket Kit

Aerospace Speciality Products Aerobee 100 Junior Model Rocket Kit

The Aerobee 100, or Aerobee Junior, was first flown early in 1958. This vehicle was designed by Aerojet General to be an inexpensive rocket to fly payloads of 50 - 100 pounds up to 90 miles. Most of the 20 produced used a solid-fuel booster, but two were actually sea-launched as a single-stage rocket (which makes this model eligible for NAR Scale competition).

Aerobee rockets have long been a favorite of scale modelers. ASP's kit is 1.89" in diameter and about 2 1/2 feet tall and features through-the-wall laser-cut plywood fins (with optional balsa laminations), big balsa nose cone, pre-rounded basswood conduits, steel cable shock cord mount and water slide decal. Makes a great intro to mid-power rocketry and flies fantastic (and high!) on 29mm F and G engines!

A parachute is not included with this kit. We recommend an 18" or 24" nylon parachute.

This kit has an accurate scale outline, but is also a fairly easy build.

    Aerobee 300 Model Rocket Kit

Aerospace Speciality Products Aerobee 300 Model Rocket Kit

The Aerobee 300, or "Spaerobee", was first flown in 1958. Eleven were flown by the Air Force and Navy with the last taking flight in 1965. The Aerobee series of rockets was designed by Aerojet General and is considered a descendant of the WAC Corporal.

Aerobee rockets have long been a favorite of scale modelers, and the Aerobee 300 has been an especially popular prototype. ASP's kit is 1.89" in diameter and over three feet tall! The kit features through-the-wall laser-cut plywood fins (with optional balsa laminations), balsa nose cone and transition, pre-rounded basswood conduits, steel cable shock cord mount and water slide and self-adhesive decals.

Makes a great intro to mid-power rocketry and flies fantastic (and high!) on 29mm F and G engines! This model can reach some impressive altitudes, especially with G engines. The kit has an accurate scale outline but is also a fairly easy build that leaves room for the modeler to add additional details if desired.

A parachute is not included with this kit. We recommend a 24" nylon parachute.

Black Brant IV Model Rocket Kit

Aerospace Speciality Products Black Brant IV Model Rocket Kit

n space flight, the first 100 miles are the toughest. It takes an enormous amount of energy to climb out of Earth's gravity and accelerate to orbital speeds. But it's at low earth orbit, or LEO, where most satellites operate.

Enter the LEO Space Train, an innovative, reusable winged space plane now under development by the U.S. aerospace industry. It's designed to travel to the edge of space where it releases a piggy-back mounted, second-stage booster. After release, the booster ignites and places the satellite payload into LEO. The LEO Space Train can be launched, recovered, and prepped for a new orbital delivery mission all in the same day.

This impressive model rocket is filled with eye-catching features that you'll enjoy bringing to life. The Estes LEO Space Train kit includes precision-cut balsa fin and wing panels with laser-etched details. The non-functional booster attaches to the upper surface of the main body-tube on miniature launch rails. It looks like it could separate and lift away at any moment! Authentic-looking plastic engine nozzles adorn the tail ends of both the powered host rocket and the non-powered booster. Finally, a sheet of colorful water slide decals with the custom LEO Space Train graphic and logo adds that last touch of realism.

While the real-life counterpart to the LEO Space Train glides home to a wheels-down landing, the finished Estes kit launches and lands as a traditional model rocket. This scale-like model can reach up to 300 feet (91 meters) on a single-stage C6-3 engine before returning gently to Earth under its own 18-inch parachute. The highly detailed LEO Space Train look great on the pad and on display. You’ll definitely want this one in your fleet!

    Low-Boom SST Model Rocket Kit

Estes Low-Boom SST Model Rocket Kit

In an era of aerospace marvels, the Supersonic Transport (SST) stood out. By the mid-1960s multiple nations were pursuing the goal of an SST passenger jet. Imagine traveling from New York to L.A. in less than two hours – it was the verge of a revolution in air travel! But there were problems. Budget overruns and projections of enormous operating costs were limiting the passenger SST's appeal. But the real death knell to an international fleet of SSTs was the excessive sound. These super-fast jets were simply too noisy.

The SST's thunderous sonic booms – faster-than-sound shock waves – were dangerously loud. So loud that SST activity over the continental US was banned with other nations following suit. Eventually, supersonic flights were limited to ocean routes. Most nations dropped their SST projects and a single model, jointly developed by England and France, was produced in very limited numbers. In the end, the revolution never came.

Fast forward to today. After decades of test flights and analysis, a solution may finally be at hand: The Low-Boom SST. By adjusting critical aspects of aircraft features like nose shape, fuselage length, wing surface area, engine output, etc., the duration and power of the sonic boom can be minimized. "Low-boom" supersonic test aircraft are now being flown successfully and passenger jet designs are in the works.

Estes is looking ahead with its own Low-Boom SST – a sleek, 30-inch long, delta-winged model rocket of the next generation of quiet, super-fast passenger jets. This Expert level kit is loaded with features including intricate, balsa-constructed, underwing engine pods and a large sheet of detailed water-slide decals to complete the scale-like look. Launch and watch as the Low-Boom SST climbs to 400 feet on a C6-3 engine and gently returns under a large 15-inch parachute. The SST revolution might be on its way after all!

    Orange Bullet Model Rocket Kit

Estes Orange Bullet Model Rocket Kit

Vernon Estes designed the Orange Bullet before Estes released its first kit, the Astron Scout, in 1961. Vern added weights to the ends of the rocket's fins to balance it so that it would tumble down safely after the motor ejected. Workign with G. Harry Stine, Vern was able to refine the design so that the motor didn't eject. Instead, the motor slides backwards changing the Center of Gravity so that the rocket tumbles. This technique would be used later in the Astron Scout kit.

Sixty years later, Bill Stine, G. Harry Stine's son and current Estes Vice President, decided it was time for the Orange bullet to take flight again.

The Orange Bullet is the first rocket in the new Estes Designer Signature Series.
