    Borealis Model Rocket Kit

    FlisKits Borealis Model Rocket Kit

Borealis is a beautiful display of dancing lights in the Northern sky which is powered by the sun. Borealis is also a beautiful ship powered by the interstellar debris left in the wake of the formation of suns.

Standing over 30" tall with graceful tube fins, the Borealis features the most unique set of laser-cut parts ever offered in a model rocket kit - fins, centering rings, and even parts for two alignment jigs.

In addition to the laser-cut parts, the Borealis also features:

Ducted Ejection: No recovery wadding is needed! The mid-ship section, constructed from three thin tubes functions as a 14" long ejection baffle reaching all the way up to the forward parachute compartment.

Tube Fins: Not just any tube fins, but the largest ever offered in a model rocket kit.

Alignment Jigs: Two different jigs that help make creating a complex assembly easy.

Decals: A new form of peel-n-stick decals made from two-mil vinyl providing vibrant colors and a very aggressive adhesive to keep them in place. The stickers are contour cut to the edge of the decal color so no cutting is required. Historically modelers have disliked peel-n-stick decals, but we believe that this new style of material and printing process will change this opinion.

Moderately challenging to build, the HEMV-4 requires you to cut two tubes with curved edges and interlocking slits.  Not really "hard", but it may be new to you, as a model rocketeer.  Taking your time and using fresh (sharp) tools will make this part of the build a breeze.

    Herc 5 Model Rocket Kit

FlisKits Herc 5 Model Rocket Kit

    Stingray Model Rocket Kit

    FlisKits Stingray Model Rocket Kit

The Stingray is a Skill Level 3 kit that can challenge any rocketeer. But, the Stingray includes clear instructions and quality materials to allow most any modeler the ability to build and learn from this unique kit.

The FlisKits Stingray does not come with any decals or markings.  The "body wrap" included with the kit is plain white requiring you to paint it and decorate it yourself. The style of the finished product is left up to your imagination.

John Bishop built the rocket in our photos. The detail he adds brings all of his rockets to life. One technique he uses is to draw details, such as rivets and panels, onto the rocket using a pen.

    U.S.S. Grissom Model Rocket Kit

FlisKits U.S.S. Grissom Model Rocket Kit

The U.S.S. Grissom is the pride of the FlisKits fleet of model rockets! At 30.6" tall, it is the tallest mini-engine powered bird in the fleet, but that's only the start. Unlike other models that have employed ducted ejection gasses, the U.S.S. Grissom has the narrowest profile of them all, giving it one of the most graceful appearances in model rocketry today. The inclusion of solar panels and it's impressive length to diameter ratio makes this one of the most stable model rockets you'll ever fly. Add to that a highly detailed set of water slide decals and you have a model that will stand out from all the rest!

The U.S.S. Grissom is a complex model to construct, but is not beyond even a novice modeler, as the assembly instructions allow for simplified construction, such as ellimination of the solar panels, reducing it's skill level to 3.

    US Tog Model Rocket Kit

FlisKits US Tog Model Rocket Kit

The US TOG is an upscale version of one of FlisKits's tiny micromaxx rockets.  The original TOG was a pip-squeak compared to this giant.  The US TOG is almost three feet long and powered by the mighty C11 and D11 motors.

From its smaller cousin, the US TOG inherits a mix of rearward and forward swept fins/wings with wing pods, ram jets and all sorts of sloped (scalloped) tubes.  The larger size of this kit allows more complexity and detail  For example, the US TOG sports a pair of detailed ram jet tubes with ram jet intakes with intricately cut fins made from 0.025" this card stock.  This level of detail is unprecedented and results in a very sharp looking model.

    Planet Probe Model Rocket Kit

Quest Aerospace Planet Probe Model Rocket Kit

Fun to fly and easy to build, the cone-shaped Planet Probe rocket is perfect for small flying areas.

The Planet Probe features gentle tumble recovery. No recovery wadding is required, so the Planet Probe is easy and quickly prepared for flight.

Some tips for building the Planet Probe:

The shroud is pre-printed on one side, but is plain white on the other. As an alternative to using the pre-printed side, you can flip the shroud over and use the white side. The white side may be decorated, before or after assembly, with paint or markers.

Gluing the cardstock internal fins to the motor mount tube can be challenging. To make it easier, lightly sand both the root edges of each fin and the places on the motor tube where the fins will be glued. Redraw the lines on the motor tube after sanding. Sanding the surfaces gives a slightly rougher finish which allows the glue to adhere better. Apply a light bead of glue along the line on motor tube. Stick the root edge of the fin to the glue. Pull the fin away and wait a few seconds. Then stick it back in place. Hold the fin in place for a while until it is steady before trying to glue the next fin.

An alternative way to attach the fins to the motor tube is to use a thin bead of CA ("Super") glue. Be careful when aligning the fin and pressing it into the glue because the glue will grab instantly. Let the glue dry for an hour or two then apply a fillit of white or wood glue along each fin's edge as described in the kit's instructions.

    Red Eye Model Rocket Kit

Semroc Red Eye Model Rocket Kit

The Red-Eye kit was originally released in 1980 by Centuri Engineering Company as the enemy satellite for their new Satellite Killer. Both of these models were a part of their “War in Space” series. Since these were done in the final days of Centuri, as a separate company from Estes Industries, there were no later entries. The Red-Eye was an “upscale” of the earlier Satellite 62SL and used the same fiber fin sheets. It was released as Catalog Number 5346 and had an introductory price of $2.00.

The Semroc Retro-Repro Red-Eye is updated with laser-cut fins. The original plastic nose cone is replaced with balsa. The engine mount is added to work with a wide range of mini-engines instead of a standard 1/2A6 engine.

    Satellite Killer Model Rocket Kit

Semroc Satellite Killer Model Rocket Kit

The Satellite Killer model rocket kit was released in 1980 by Centuri Engineering Company along with the Red-Eye as its enemy satellite. Inspired by the cold war "Star Wars" proposal, these models were a part of Centuri's "War in Space" series. Since these were done in the final days of Centuri as a separate company from Estes Industries, there were no later entries.

The Semroc Retro-Repro Satellite Killer kit is updated with laser-cut fiber fins. The original foil decals are changed to waterslide for ease of use and durability. A Kevlar cord is added for a more reliable shock mount. Most of the rest of the model is faithful to the original design.
