    Juno II Model Rocket Kit

Dr. Zooch Juno II Model Rocket Kit

Perhaps the most un-glamorized booster ever produced by von Braun’s team at Army Ballistic Missile Agency (ABMA) was the Juno II. Only ten of these vehicles were launched in a two and one half year period and only four of those flights were able to be called successful.

By the end of 1958 the von Braun team, on behalf of the newly created NASA, assembled and launched the first Juno II from Pad 5 at Cape Canaveral. NASA was itching to go from space planning to space flying and the Juno II, although developed by the ABMA, would give the public appearance of being a NASA vehicle and NASA project. The first launch of a Juno II, on December 6, 1958, lofted the Pioneer III probe. Thereafter, the vehicle’s track record gets fairly dismal with only three of the next nine flights officially considered successful. In the end the Juno II was simply a vehicle that was quickly passed by as spaceflight technology experienced an explosive growth.

The Juno II now holds the record as being NASA’s least successful launch vehicle. So, if you get more than four fully successful flights out of your Juno II, you’ll be doing better with your Juno II than either NASA or ABMA did with theirs!

In addition to the laser-cut parts, the Borealis also features:

Ducted Ejection: No recovery wadding is needed! The mid-ship section, constructed from three thin tubes functions as a 14" long ejection baffle reaching all the way up to the forward parachute compartment.

Tube Fins: Not just any tube fins, but the largest ever offered in a model rocket kit.

Alignment Jigs: Two different jigs that help make creating a complex assembly easy.

Decals: A new form of peel-n-stick decals made from two-mil vinyl providing vibrant colors and a very aggressive adhesive to keep them in place. The stickers are contour cut to the edge of the decal color so no cutting is required. Historically modelers have disliked peel-n-stick decals, but we believe that this new style of material and printing process will change this opinion.

Arcturus Sounding Rocket Scale Model Rocket Kit

Rocketarium Arcturus Sounding Rocket Scale Model Rocket Kit

The Arcturus sounding rocket was designed and used for scientific data gathering, mainly meteorological. Itas intended to serve as a replacement, or upgrade, to the popular Arcas sounding rockets. It's main selling point was that it could be launched from the existing Arcas launch platforms, avoiding new infrastructure expenses. The Arcturus rocket never gained a wide user base as new two-stage Arcas configurations served the same purpose more efficiently.

Rocketarium Frangible ARCAS Model Rocket Kit

Atlantic Research Corporation developed the ARCAS (All-Purpose Rocket for Collecting Atmospheric Soundings) for the Office of Naval Research (ONR). An ARCAS rocket was first launched in July of 1959. During the 1960s, the Air Force developed a variant of the sounding rocket known as the Frangible ARCAS Meteorological Rocket which was designed to be flown over residential areas. To avoid injury and damage to property on the ground, a sheet of explosive material wrapped around the airframe allowed the rocket to be destroyed in mid-air..

Rocketarium's scale Frangible ARCAS model separates at motor ejection and descends under a parachute. The kit doesn't get blown to pieces and, unlike the real rocket, can enjoy many flights.

    Gadfly Missile Model Rocket Kit

Roland Surface-to-Air Missile Model Rocket Kit

Rocketarium Roland Surface-to-Air Missile Model Rocket Kit

Different versions were developed by the U.S. Army and the French/German armed forces. The US version never made it past the development stage and was never used in battle.

This model rocket kit comes with a lot of nose weight, required for stable flight. As a result, launches are slow and majestic. The weight limits altitude which is great for smaller launch sites.

    SA-2 Guideline Model Rocket Kit

Rocketarium SA-2 Guideline Model Rocket Kit

The Soviet SA-2 Guideline was the first surface-to-air missile to actually take down an enemy aircraft in flight. The Soviets deployed the SA-2 near Soviet cities, such as Moscow, to defend against USAF bombers during the cold war. Later, they were also used in East Germany.

Tank Buster 5 Model Rocket Kit

Rocketarium Tank Buster 5 Model Rocket Kit

This model rocket is an original design with a military inspiration. It is not a scale model of a real rocket. The TB5 represents a launched grenade used to disable, or destroy, a range of armored targets, tanks especially. The Tank Buster 5's unique shape and six fins will make it stand out at any launch. The TB5 can be flown on B motors for low flights, or C motors for more serious action. Due to the launch lug location, a four foot long 1/8" launch rod is required to safely fly this rocket.
