Aerojet General designed the Astrobee D to carry payloads to the D-region of the ionosphere. The sounding rocket's first flights took place in June, 1970 and it continued to be used until 1980.

This flying scale model features laser-cut basswood fins, balsa nose cone, wire antennas and decals. It flies on economical mini-engines.
